| Beschreibung: | This dissertation examines how blended value creation through hybrid venturing is enabled and shaped. To address this question, it comprises four studies centered on social ventures and impact investors across key stages in the initiation and development of hybrid organizations. Study 1 addresses the initiation stage and provides a comprehensive account of social venture creation determinants through a systematic synthesis of 107 empirical articles. Study 2 identifies four resource mobilization strategies that social ventures employ to navigate external financing constraints and demonstrates how these strategies differ in their capacity to generate social value at the organizational and system levels. Study 3 sheds light on the seemingly symbiotic relationship between social ventures and impact investors and reveals practices by each actor that can enhance or impede blended value creation. Finally, Study 4 explores the heterogeneity in impact investing and identifies four impact investor archetypes that differ in their motives, investment rationales, investee selection criteria, and non-financial support offerings. Together, the four studies contribute to a comprehensive understanding of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and hybrid venturing. Moreover, the dissertation extends social bricolage theory to encompass a holistic perspective on the processes through which hybrid organizations create social value and provides several implications for practice and policy. | |||||||
