Wir erhalten u.a. Endlichkeits- und Verschwindungsresultate für die genannten Invarianten.Let G be a discrete group which acts on a contractible manifold X smoothly and properly discontinuously. An important example is the action of arithmetic subgroups G of certain Lie groups H on the associated symmetric space X=H/K where K Ext*(S(M),S(M))$, which is an isomorphism whenever one of the representations M or N of G is trivial. The proof that a is an isomorphism in the N=k case follows from the fact that the Ext-sheaves ext^j(S(M),S(N)) vanish for each j>0, which was shown by Singhof in an unpublished paper with the help of Poincaré-Verdier-Duality. The approach presented in this thesis avoids this sophisticated tool. The result will, instead, be a direct consequence of a general study of the map a for arbitrary M and N. Furthermore, we are interested in developing tools for the computations of the invariants Ext^*(\km,\kn) and ext*(S(M),S(N)) in the hope that they yield useful information about the cohomology of G.
One of the main results is that the comparison map a fits into a long exact sequence where every third term in the sequence is given by the homology of the G-invariants W^G of a combinatorially defined complex W of G-modules. More precisely, W is a kind of simplicial chain complex on the singular set X_s with respect to a (not locally constant) coefficient system which depends on the stabilizers of G and on the representations M and N. A local version of this procedure shows that ext^*(S(M),S(N)) is the homology of a chain complex of similarly defined constructable sheaves. We gain vanishing and finiteness results for the invariants mentioned above.
